During the evening 19th August, the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat had arranged so we could vote in the Swedish election, which will take place September 14 when Leg 2 of SWERUS-C3 is still ongoing. This worked out really well. All Swedish citizens of Leg 2 got their opportunity to vote.
During the morning 20th August it is time to rotate Leg 1 and 2 participants. This operation is rather weather dependent so we kept a close watch on how it developed. Wind and waves could easily delay the entire operation and then also the start of Leg 2. But when we woke up during the morning, it was almost completely calm and foggy. The bunker barge had made it to Oden and begun to top up so we safely could operate in the pack ice without running any risks of running out of fuel. We also heard that the last supplies of new fresh vegetables and other fresh food items were going to come with a flight from Anchorage during the evening. It looked like all critical parts could come together nicely so we could depart!
