In the summer of 2003 a Swedish-American research expedition went to Severnaya Zemlya, northwest of the Taymyr Peninsula. Quaternary geologists from Lund University studied glaciation, and bedrock geologists from the Uppsala University continued their studies of the Arctic lithosphere.
