The project Rephotography – a dialogue with history in an Arctic landscape rephotographed Swedish and Norwegian historical landscape photos taken in Svalbard 1872–1980.
The retrophotography science history project was a comparative “then and now” study that generated new reference material for further rephotography and comparison. In this context, photography and its history can play an important role in the study and preservation of a unique wilderness or, in the worst case, the memory of that wilderness.
