Wet, wet, wet and no visibility. With topographic maps at 1:100000 scale, good visibility is a must for fieldwork. A short walk in the surroundings, then drying and waiting for a 30–40 hours time window of good weather for fieldwork. We plan to take the Zodiac to the other side of Forlandsundet to reach the high pressure metamorphic rocks at the for Svalbard well known Motalafjella locality. The sky cleared up earlier than predicted, in the evening instead of the morning. But to start such a long field trip after being awake for 12 hours is not safe. Thus, we will sleep early and leave the camp by 5 am. Hopefully, the weather will hold. Otherwise we will have an unpleasant trip back…
