Another beautiful morning, sunshine and no wind. We made the Zodiac ready for a trip to Grimaldibukta, to look for more high grade metamorphic rocks of the Pinkie Formation. Our camp fox visited us again and was even less shy than before.

Unfortunately, Kuba had a bad knee after twisting it during yesterdays trip and stayed in the camp. The other four of us had a wonderful touristic day and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. We also passed the snowfield from yesterday’s climb, and from the sea it looks completely insane – one has to be up there to understand that it is not that steep.

From our research project’s point of view we didn’t see anything interesting today, but it was important to visit the area to verify this. However unrelated to the project, it was interesting to see the Tertiary conglomerate which formed during the rather recent development of the Forlandsundet Graben. Also the Zodiac ride back with a bit more wind and tidal currents in the narrowest part of Forlandsundet, resulting in rather nasty waves, was a good experience for planning our move to Selvågen in central Prins Karls Forlandet in a couple of days – if weather permits.
