Today it is again cold and windy. We decided to go for a reconnaissance trip through the late Neoproterozoic Taylorfjellet, Glenbergdalen and MacNairrabbane units. Majek and Jarek felt ”at home” with lithologies similar to Wedel Jarlsberg Land in southwestern Spitsbergen (which they know by heart), and they almost could predict the next unit we would pass. But the latest description of the stratigraphy and tectonostratigraphy (units placed on top of each other by faulting) is in a different order (however, even earlier authors were of different opinion). We need to investigate this more closely, in particular the contact relationships between these units. We collected samples for dating and petrography for close comparison to the successions in Wedel Jarlsberg Land.
