One of the major issues coupled to the global sustainable development is the global warming and climate change. The Arctic is one of the most sensitive areas as the warming will likely be particularly accentuated here.
This makes the Arctic ice caps and ice fields to sensitive regions as potential providers of water to increasing sea levels.
This project’s aim was to gather data on atmospheric and glacial processes on Nordenskiöldbreen/Lomonosovfonna, Svalbard, in order to find the status and to predict the future behaviour of one of the larger Arctic ice caps, as a model of how the Arctic ice caps in general may develop into the future.
