A good night’s sleep. The wind is down. We checked the outboard engine and the obvious damages are the hood, a broken cover in the engine (including the cast aluminum bolts), an electrical connection, two pipes and the fixation of the pressure sensor for the fuel injection system – and sand, sand, sand everywhere.
We can’t do much about the dirt but fixed everything we could and the engine started after a couple of pulls on two of three cylinders. Remains to test it a longer time on water to get the cooling system running, and to see whether the third cylinder will start… But this is something to do in the nice weather promised for tomorrow. And we need to go to field. Not that we have a full programme here in our ”refugee” from Sørkapp, but sitting too long in the cottage is not good. ”Hüttenkoller” it is called in German.
