During the 1999/2000 season an expansion of the neutrino telescope AMANDA at the South Pole was carried out. Seven new holes were drilled and approximately 300 new light detectors were lowered into the ice. Five physicists from Sweden traveled down to the South Pole with three drilling technicians. The AMANDA project was a collaboration between Stockholm University, Uppsala University, University of Kalmar and four U.S. universities and a German research institute.
