Within an earlier conservation project (SEFALO +), more than 350 Arctic fox cubs were caught and earmarked in the Swedish mountains in 2003–2008. DNA samples were taken as well as, in some cases, parasite samples. This year’s project followed up the marked individuals as to see what impact genetic and parasitological factors have on survival and reproduction. The understanding of survival factors is very important in the work to ensure the survival of the Arctic fox.
